Police Authority Public Meeting 4/10/11

September 19, 2011

following message from Avon & Somerset Police:

Dear Resident of Avon and Somerset,

I am writing to invite you to the next Police Authority Meeting on Tuesday 4 October 2011 at Bristol City Council. This will be the first Police Authority meeting away from Police Headquarters in Portishead and with this in mind we have changed the format to include a presentation from Bristol’s District Commander ACC John Long.

In light of the recent disturbances we felt that it was right to hold our next public meeting in the city which has been in the spotlight. The first part of our meeting will be focused on Bristol and will be the opportunity for those attending to ask any questions of the Bristol District Commander, senior officers, members of the Police Authority or myself. People are also welcome to stay for the public session of the full Police Authority meeting that will follow.

The programme for the day is as follows:

From 10:00      Guests and members of the public to report at Reception, Council House, College Green, BS1 5TR.
10:15   Short presentation on the Police Force’s work in Bristol, by Bristol District Commander ACC John Long followed by questions from the public
11:00   Full Police Authority General Session commences.

The agenda and papers for the general session of the meeting that will commence at 11:00 will be available online at www.aspola.org.uk from 5pm on Monday 26 September 2011. Please note that to ask questions in the formal part of the meeting at 11:00 two clear working days notice has to be given to the Chief Executive of the Police Authority and time is restricted to no more than five minutes.

We hope that you will find the public session informative and if you would like to attend it would be useful if you could let us know so we can ensure a space is saved for you.  Please email feedback@aspola.org.uk or call 01275 816377 before Monday 26 September 2011.

If you cannot attend you can have your say on October 4 tweet @ASPoliceAuth and use the #YPYV for your questions. You can also call 01275 816377, email feedback@aspola.org.uk, or visit www.aspola.org.uk

We very much look forward to seeing you on Tuesday, October 4 at the Council House.

Yours sincerely

 Peter Heffer
