Message from Bristol City Council:
As autumn draws in and the temperature drops, a new scheme that will enable hundreds of residents to cut their heating bills and keep warm gets under way.
Bristol City Council has joined forces with Npower, Wolseley and the Centre for Sustainable Energy to offer up to 1,000 householders across the city the chance to claim free loft insulation which will also be delivered to their home free.
The scheme, open to the first 1,000 people to call 0800 512 012, is funded through the Carbon Emission Reduction target by Npower and the council.
Dave Cowley from Bristol City Council, said: “We recognised that while people could buy DIY loft insulation, they would have to get the very bulky insulation home. This promotion solves that.
”The first 1,000 people to phone the free phone number with details of the existing depth of insulation in their home and the size of their loft will be able to put in an order and get it delivered for free.”
The scheme is open to everyone in Bristol who owns, or who rents a domestic property and who wishes to insulate the loft and who has not previously had funding to do so (commercial properties are excluded from this promotion).
Help to install the Rockwall insulation materials is available through the Bristol Energy Efficiency Scheme (BEES) under which you can get it installed for free if you’re over 60 – or if you’re not, you can get it done for as little as £179.
Five of the six major energy companies have recently increased their prices – having both loft and cavity wall insulation is the sensible option, and could save customers £255 on their bills on average, according to the Energy Saving Trust.
The 0800 512 012 telephone number is that of the Energy Saving Trust advice line which is staffed by trained energy advisors.
