opening of junctions in St Pauls – details of work

October 3, 2011

We now know that works will begin on October 17th 2011.  The order in which the junctions will be worked on is as follows:

First: Drummond Road and Ashley Road
Second: Drummond Road and City Road
Third: Brighton Street and Argyle Road

We have been told that work on each junction will last approx. three weeks on each junction.  Please be aware that the dates are “weather permitting” and delays could occur in this schedule.

During the work there will be parking restrictions in place, which will impact on you and your neighbours.  The contractors are aware of the difficulties around parking in the area and will do their best to inform you of these restrictions.  Please keep an eye open for these signs, which will be placed in the area 7 days in advance of the works starting.

The pictures here will show you what your new junctions will look like.

If we hear of any further serious delays or changes we will make sure to let you know as soon as possible.  If you have any questions, concerns or comments please feel free to get in touch.

With Love and Respect,
Maryanne Kempf
Chair – St Pauls Unlimited

Action group take on derelict sites on Stokes Croft

September 20, 2011

Local residents, groups and businesses are working together to develop a new community vision for the Westmoreland house and Carriageworks site on Stokes Croft.

From Saturday 17th September they will be finding out what local people think should happen to the buildings.  They will be carrying out street surveys and providing free rickshaw rides in and around Stokes Croft in return for people giving their vision for the site.  You can complete the questionnaire online.

They will spend the next four weeks finding out what people think.  Find out more about how to have your say at www.carriageworks.org.uk

In November responses will be analysed, including the previous discussion on Ask Bristol.  They will then come up with a draft vision.  People will be asked what they think about it before agreeing the final version at the end of the year.

They would love to hear from anyone who can spare some time to volunteer to help with the consultation and events.  Find out more on the website.

Help us pick projects for this year

March 2, 2011

in 2010 we will be changing the way we work, replacing the ‘Task Groups’ with working on 5 – 7 projects designed to make improvements to specific areas of life in St Pauls. Please help us by choosing a maximum of FIVE issues which we have identified by speaking to local people. There is also space to add your own issues too, but please include extra issues as part of your five. do the survey here

Consultation Results!

January 10, 2011

Late in 2010 we asked residents living near the three junctions of Brighton Street, Argyle Road and Drummond Road what they would like to see happen there. We spoke to over 200 people in a 2 phase consulation and the consultation results reflect the majority views we collected.
