SPU Archive

Since St Pauls Unlimited started in 2001 the organisation has worked through different ‘Task Groups’ to make progress in areas of community life.

In 2010 it was decided that due to shrinking resources and progress already made it was time to refocus our time and energy onto a set of priorities which were identified by the community through consultation.

here is some content from the Task Group pages:

Arts & Culture

We look at delivering public art works in the St Pauls area, as layed down in the Neighbourhood Plan, We also organise the popular annual ’Open Space’  event. The meetings are a chance for artists to meet other artists and find out whats going on.

Here you can see minutes of meetings:

February 2010 / December 2009 / June 2009

Housing

The housing task group looked at the broader issues of housing in the area, from what mix of housing should be developed, to what policies we should push for – a good example being the local sales protocol, where any social landlord selling property in the area gave people with a local connection the first option to buy.

We looked for houses that are abandoned, derelict or falling apart and chased the owners to get them ready for use and get people living in them!

Contact us if you know of any houses that need serious attention.

Parks

The group was formed specifically to look at the green spaces in the area. Through consultation processes it aimed to find out how people would like to use these areas and what they would like to find in them. The group were responsible for shaping the refurbished St Pauls Park, St Agnes Park and Brunswick Cemetery.
