Current Priorities

In February 2011 newsletter we asked everyone what they would like us to work on this year from a list of 30 issues which have been raised with us by residents over the past few months.

Having received over 200 responses our Coordinating Body (made up of residents and partner organisation representatives) met to look at the results and vote on the actions that St Pauls Unlimited will take forward. The Coordinating Body took into consideration all the resources available to St Pauls Unlimited and voted on seven issues, prioritising those that the wider community were most concerned about.

The top seven issues, which St Pauls Unlimited will focus on during 2011 / 2012, are:

1)     Finding funds for youth activities

2)     Increased Employment Opportunities in St Pauls

3)     Homework Club – Key Stage 3

4)     Co Location – Making sure that a new Cabot School gets built

5)     Dove Lane Development  – continue to work towards a development that will benefit the residents of St Pauls

6)     St Pauls Community Buildings – Support a joined up approach to effective use of community spaces and resources

7)     Planning – continuing to keep an eye on planning applications.  Commenting on them and raising objections when necessary

There will also several other issues that residents raised that will be dealt with by the Ashley Neighbourhood Forum and the Neighbourhood Partnership.  Resident Representatives from the Coordinating Body attend the forum meetings and often participate in follow-up work that comes out of the forums.

If you voted for an issue that doesn’t appear in the list above, don’t worry.  Most of the remaining issues on the list have been brought up at past Forum meetings and are being dealt with the appropriate agency.  If ever you are concerned that an issue you have raised has not been addressed, then please come and join a Forum meeting  or get in touch with the St Pauls Unlimited office team.

Some of the top ranking issues being dealt with by the Ashley Forum include:

  • Drugs & Sex litter around St Agnes Church
  • Resident parking scheme
  • Improved street cleaning (same standard as the rest of Bristol)

One Response to Current Priorities

  1. Hi. Is it possible that we could be added to your list for updates regarding the Residents Parking Scheme please? Are there any existing documents that you could point us towards regarding the current status? Thanks in advance,
